The organisational structure must be capable of managing this information throughout the information lifecycle regardless of source or format (data, paper documents, electronic documents, audio, video, etc.) for delivery through multiple channels that may include cell phones and web interfaces.\u00a0<br \/>\u200b<br \/>Information management (IM) is the collection and management of information from one or more sources and the distribution of that information to one or more audiences. This sometimes involves those who have a stake in or a right to that information. Management means the organisation of and control over the structure, processing, and delivery of information.<br \/><br \/>Given these criteria, we can then say that the focus of IM is the ability of organisations to capture, manage, preserve, store and deliver the right information to the right people at the right time.<br \/><br \/>Information management environments are comprised of legacy information resident in line of business applications,\u00a0Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Electronic Records Management (ERM), Business Process Management (BPM), Taxonomy and Metadata, Knowledge Management (KM), Web Content Management (WCM), Document Management (DM) and Social Media Governance technology solutions and best practices. Information management requires the adoption and adherence to guiding principles that include:<\/span><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Information assets are corporate assets. This principle should be acknowledged or agreed upon across the organisation; otherwise any business case and support for IM will be weak.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Information must be made available and shared. Of course, not all information is open to anyone, but in principle, the sharing of information helps the use and exploitation of organisational knowledge.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Information the organisation needs to keep is managed and retained systematically. In other words, the retention and archiving of information. If you save a document today, you expect it to be secured and still available to you tomorrow.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Information management is an organisational responsibility that needs to be addressed and followed from the uppermost senior levels of management to the front line worker. Organisations must be held and must hold their employees accountable to capture, manage, store, share, preserve, and deliver information appropriately and responsibly. Part of that responsibility lies in training the organisation to become familiar with\u00a0the policies, processes, technologies, and best practices in IM.\u00a0<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2092\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Health Information Management Unit\u200b (HIMU)<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2092\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2092\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><div class=\"paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Health Information Management Unit (HIMU) of RDHS Kalmunai is located at RDHS office Kalmunai which functions under the guidance of Regional Director of Health Services following standards and guidelines (S&amp;G) formulated by the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka.<br \/><br \/>\u200bHIMU was established in all decentralised institutions with paying authority of the Ministry of Health, such as Line Ministry Institutions, Campaigns, PDHSS, RDHSS, and Teaching and Provincial Hospitals, in2014 under the directive issued by the Health Secretary.<\/span><\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> A written directive was issued in writing to this effect\u00a0on 24\/02\/2014 by the then Health Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayathilake.\u00a0It is clearly stipulated in the said\u00a0 directive that each HIMU must be headed by a Medical Officer or Dental Surgeon Health Informatics (MO\/DS-HI) as in-charge of the unit assisted by required supporting staff as per requirement with other required resources that needed for a smooth functioning of HIMU.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WELCOME TO HIMU Health Information Management Unit &#8211; HIMU Information Management?
